Breaking News; EB-6 category?
Today, 02/24/2010, two United States Senators, Kerry (D-Mass.) and Lugar (R-Ind.) introduced a bill called the “StartUp Visa Act of 2010”. The aim of this bill according to a release on Senator Lugar’s website is to “drive job creation and increase America’s global competitiveness by helping immigrant entrepreneurs secure visas to the United States.” For additional information

This bill has a great chance of becoming law mainly because the visas are to be made available from the number already allocated for the EB-5 category. The bill aims to create an EB-6 category. One major difference at the moment is the fact that the investor has to create 5 full time jobs as against 10 full time jobs needed for EB-5. Also the amount that needs to be dedicated is $250,000.00 as against the $1,000,000.00 needed for EB-5 ($500,000.00) if in a rural area.
